meet Gina,

owner & therapist

To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.
— Thich Nhat Hanh

Gina Fimbel, LCSWA, CMSW, is a therapist and social worker with a deep commitment to creating spaces where people feel seen, safe, and whole. Her work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience—including as a mother of five children, one of whom passed away from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and as a parent through both domestic and international adoption. These personal experiences inform her passion for adoption-competent, trauma-informed care.

Gina earned her Master of Social Work with a focus on clinical practice and gained experience in foster care and child protective services, including professional work within CPS after graduation. She has worked in a shelter for women and children and has served for nearly a decade on the core team of Be the Bridge, a nonprofit focused on racial literacy and restorative justice. Growing up in Appalachia, Gina began to confront her own privilege and explore how cultural identity, systems, and intergenerational trauma shape our lives.

At Becoming + Belonging Therapy, she offers individual therapy for adults both in person and via telehealth, and works with children, teens, and families in person. Her approach integrates cultural humility and clinical insight, with a focus on building collaborative, meaningful relationships that support healing and growth.

Gina lives in Wilmington, NC, with her family and two small dogs, Gucci and Louie, who faithfully remind her of the importance of presence, routine, and joy.
